Lios em chania vu | Bienvenida | Welcome
JUEBENARIA (meaning plural in our Yaqui language) is a project that intends to create a past, present, future representation of Yaqui narratives. Providing a evolving collection of lived experiences to illustrate the varied identities of Yoeme people. To lead towards strengthening our Yaqui community through multigenerational collective visioning for our immediate contexts while envisioning connections to our homelands.
SPECIES OF THE RIVER
Species of the River is a collaborative research project developed in 2023-2024 between Yaqui architectural designer Selina Martinez and the Santo Domingo Centre of Excellence for Latin American Research at the British Museum.
The project examines questions about territorial identity, dispossession, community memory and storytelling, exploring the Yaqui collection and the connection between culture and design in the Yaqui communities on both sides of the present-day US/Mexico border.
